Riftway Cataclysm is a game where you’re encouraged to build any army you can imagine. Wizards, robots, monsters, an energy beings are all possible in the infinite vastness of the Riftway.

Find your favorite models. Virtually any model will do. Army’s can be as small as five models or as big as fifty, it’s up to you!

Troop rules in Riftway Cataclysm are broad archetypes that could be applied to a wide range of models. Instead of focusing on matching the troop card to the perfect model, put that energy into telling your own story.

Why does the unarmored looking tribesman have armor 4? Perhaps the Architects gifted them shielding amulets!

Why does the giant bullfrog have a shooting attack? Maybe he has a long barbed tongue!

Once you’ve selected your Troop Cards you’re ready to choose custom rules for your faction. Each faction consists has six properties that can each be customized:

Species - An army wide passive ability
Culture - A special action for your Troops
Martial Prowess - A unique Tactical Ploy
Military Doctrine - Special deployment rules
Character - A special commander ability
Motivation - A way to gain Strategic Tokens

Lastly, you can customize each troop with special Wargear to help them fight like you imagine they should.

Your army has two Requisition Points for every Troop Choice with which to buy Wargear.

Utility - Improved objective control
Defensive - Improved resilience
Mobility - Improved
Squad - Promote squad members
Melee - Powerful melee upgrades
Ranged - Powerful ranged upgrades

Create Custom Troop Cards

Using the rules of an official troop archetype, you can add your own creative flare. As long as your card lists the name of the archetype, for the benefit of your opponent, you can change names around all you please.

Create your own Custom Codex. Even get A physical version printed! Share your work with the Riftway Community and add to the canon of the Riftway Chronicles.

You can use any word processing program you like to create your army book. To create a book formatted to for printing we suggest using the open source software Scribus.
